Andersat and hiSky Announce the Launch of Satellite IoT Services

Following a successful POC phase in which the two companies conducted multiple trials for both on-the-move and fixed use cases, the new partnership is now enabling local satellite IoT/M2M and MSS services for Chile and the rest of the Andean Region.

hiSky’s IoT SmartelliteTM network utilizes Andesat’s existing geostationary (GEO) Ku-band frequencies and provides low-cost IoT services for Andesat’s local market. The combined service targets industrial IoT for all remote sectors including transport, maritime, fisheries, environmental monitoring, fire detection, smart agriculture, mining, energy, and critical assets.

hiSky’s Smartellite™ terminals, certified by FCC, CE, ENACOM and ANATEL together with a teir-1 NMS hiSKy360, enables non-stop connectivity, analysis, management and remote control of any smart device or sensor. Additionally, hiSky’s new hybrid solution offers dual mode connectivity, automatically switching between satellite and LTE/4G, directing all communications, IoT/M2M and MSS, over a unified eco-system for continuous connectivity.

Pablo Rasore, CEO at Andesat, said “It’s been a great experience working with the hiSky Team and getting to try and validate this service. I think we will have the chance to address the IoT market with a very competitive and reliable Service in the remote regions of South America.”

Nitzan Raz, CBO at hiSky, added “While the entire LATAM market is promising in potential, we specifically find Andesat’s core markets, spread through the remote Chilean terrain fascinating, accessible and perfectly fit for our low-data-rate, IoT services. We thank the talented Andesat team for the outstanding teamwork throughout the initial POC phase and look forward to the establishment of our mutual services.”

The two companies are currently in the process of deploying the first SmartelliteTM IoT networks for the fleet management vertical. The new service fills a void for remote industries which until today have been underserved by the premium priced satellite industry.
